How I Constructed F5 - Parcheesi

F5 - Parcheesi

This block is a mind stretcher. After contemplating several ways to stitch this block, I decided to do it this way. I'm pleased with the results and thought I would share my steps.

Cut a square of your background fabric 8" x 8". Photocopy the pattern from the Dear Jane book. Iron on freezer paper to the back of your pattern. Carefully cut out the pattern pieces. Lay your pieces on your background fabric square and trace around each piece carefully.

Using the same pattern pieces you used to trace on your background fabric, cut a piece of your print fabric for the center of the block. Appliqué it to the background fabric using your tracings as a guide.

Cut out the 4 pieces of your print fabric for the sides and appliqué one to each side. Extend beyond the seam allowance.

Your block should look like the picture on the left.

Cut 4 HSTs to machine stitch to the corners. Press your block flat. Trim your block to 5". Add the block numbers to your DJ Journal.
